3 Women Farmers Die And 3 Injured As Truck Rams Into Them At Tikri Border

It’s been more than 11 months since farmers of the country have been on roads, protesting against the 3 agricultural bills passed by the government in September 2020

. It is without a doubt one of the longest running protests in the country’s history and over the course of 1 year, over 600 farmers have given up their lives.

The death toll does not seem to have an end as 3 more women farmers were killed recently at the Tikri Border. A speeding truck rammed into a group of women farmers and ran over them, ultimately killing 3 of them and injuring many. 2 of the women farmers died on the spot when the truck hit them while one was hospitalised and gave up her life in the hospital.

It is also being reported that 2 other farmers have been injured by the accident. The incident has attracted a lot of public attention and the public is mourning the death of peacefully protesting farmers. According to the people on the spot, the accident took place in the morning, at about 5:30 am on 28 October, 2021 near the protest site of Tikri Border, Bahadurgarh, Haryana.

The Chief Minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi also tweeted on the issue. He mourned the death of the 3 farmers and expressed his grief at the tragic event. He also urged Haryana Police to find the accused who ran over the farmers, and put him behind the bars as soon as possible.  

Reports have suggested that the women who lost their lives belonged to the Mansa District of Punjab. Almost a month ago, in a similar accident, son of union minister Ashish Mishra had run over farmers at Lakhimpur Kheri, killing many on the spot. The incident had also attracted nationwide attention.
