300 Units Free Power To Every Household In Punjab From July 1: AAP Govt

The newly elected AAP govt has announced 300 units of free power supply to every household in Punjab from July 1. The announcement comes as the Bhagwant Mann-led government in the state completed one month in the office today.

On Tuesday, CM Mann said that he will be giving good news to the people of Punjab very soon, which was an indication to implement the AAP’s guarantee of 300 units of free power supply to every household in the state.

After meeting the AAP chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, in a tweet had said:

“Had a wonderful meeting with our leader and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Very soon, will give good news to the people of Punjab”.

Up to 300 units of free power supply to every household in Punjab, was one of the major promises made by the AAP during the Punjab assembly elections. While making the promise, AAP convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had said:

“Despite a surplus power production in the state, long power cuts are imposed and many people get inflated bills. The upcoming AAP govt will provide 300 units of free power supply to every household”.

While campaigning for the AAP in Punjab, he had also said:

“There are many people in villages who got ‘wrong’ bills, their power connections were cut because of the non-payment, and such people resorted to stealing power. In Delhi, the AAP government provides 200 units of free power per month”.

Last month, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann announced the rollout of the doorstep ration delivery scheme, which was also AAP’s key campaign agenda during the assembly elections.

In the Punjab Assembly polls held recently, the AAP had defeated the Congress, the Akali-BSP alliance as well as the BJP alliance, resulting in a thumping majority for AAP with 92 seats, while the Congress party secured just 18 and the Akali-BSP alliance only 4.

The poll promise of giving 300 units of free power supply to every household, was one of the key announcements of the AAP, which played a major role in the party’s victory in Punjab.
