The Indian Judiciary is considered as one of the strongest judicial systems in the world. With a well-crafted system of courts, the Indian constitution ensures that justice is always served! While the Indian courts have passed down some historic judgements in recent times, they’ve also passed down some of the most controversial ones.
Women’s safety in India has always been a prime issue. The Indian citizen would rely on the court of law and India’s strong judicial systems to ensure women safety and empower them; some of the judgments recently passed deliver a contradictory message.
Rape, Sexual Assault, Molestation are all legal crimes in India. Nobody can deny that India has a dark past of some of the cruelest Rape cases in the world, and almost every girl goes through molestation or sexual assault once in their lives. While the public would believe the court to be strict and punish the commiters of this heinous crime with all legal possibilities, the court has given some weird reasons to not punish men for rape:

3. The woman does not behave like a ‘Rape Vicim’. So you need to cry, sob, be helpless, try to commit suicide, be social isolated and then the court would know you’ve been raped!
4. The woman they violated falls asleep after the act, which is “unbecoming of an Indian woman”.
5. The man is married to the raped woman, she becomes his property and he can do anything with her. Marry her, Rape is legal!
6. There was no skin-to-skin contact.
7. Groping a 5-year old girl’s hand and unzipping your pants is not assault.
This one will blow you away!
8. Rape becomes the women’s crime, if she smokes, drinks or has a casual sexual relaionship. This makes her ‘promiscuous’. Find a girl who smokes or drinks, raping her is legal!
