Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, tensions between India and Pakistan have grown stronger. In the midst of this, actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh is facing criticism for working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3.
BN Tiwari, President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), has come out strongly against Diljit’s collaboration and has demanded a complete ban on all his future projects.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Tiwari said, “By working with a Pakistani actor, Diljit has hurt Indian sentiments. He has disrespected the sentiments of the nation and insulted the sacrifice of our brave soldiers. His preference for Pakistani talent over Indian artists raises serious questions about his loyalty and priorities.”
He further added, “We have heard that the film is not being released in India. But if they plan to release it, we will ban it. For now, they are releasing overseas only. That being said, Diljit working with a Pakistani actor is something we are not ready to overlook. We have called for a strict ban on all upcoming films, songs or any other sort of projects. We will also issue a formal letter on the same today. Along with Diljit, we have also called for a ban on the producers of the film regarding all their upcoming films.”
Tiwari said they had reached out to the filmmakers earlier, asking for a response, but never heard back.
“Humne letter de diya tha, ko jawab nahi aaya. Ab seedha ban karenge,” he said while concluding.
The controversy has once again reignited the debate over whether Indian artists should collaborate with Pakistani talent, especially during times of political unrest.
