Abhishek Bachchan To Essay The Role Of Poet Sahir Ludhianvi In Upcoming Biopic

If there is one filmmaker in Bollywood who strives to bring forth epic love sagas and can successfully pull them off, then it is Sanjay Leela Bhansali. SLB who entertained the audience with his recent directorial film Gangubai Kathiawadi is now all set to impress his fans once again. Now, as per reports, Sanjay is all set to produce Sahir Ludhianvi and Amrita Pritam’s love story on the big screen.

And for this upcoming biopic, news has been flooding all over the portals that Bhansali wants Abhishek Bachchan to play the role of poet-thinker-activist the legendary Sahir Ludhianvi. However, late actor Irrfan Khan was also keen to play this character on screen.

According to Firstpost reports, junior Bachchan is set to play the role of Sahir Ludhianvi, who was a renowned poet-lyricist of Bollywood. He also penned down the lyrics of various evergreen melodies like Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hoon, Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein, Chalo Ik Baar Phir Se Ajnabee, and many more. And many of these songs have been filmed on Abhishek’s father Amitabh Bachchan as well. It has also been said, the actor has lost a lot of weight and is busy prepping up for the larger than life role of the accomplished writer. The report adds that the Sahir Ludhianvi biopic will be directed by debutante Jasmeet Reen and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

While Abhishek will get into the shoes of Sahir Ludhianvi, the update about who will essay the role of Amrita Pritam is still awaited. Meanwhile, he will next be seen in the second season of ‘Breathe: Into The Shadows’. He also has ‘Dasvi’, directed by Tushar Jalota, with Yami Gautam in the pipeline, as well as R Balki’s ‘Ghoomer’, inspired by the incredible achievement of Karoly Takacs, a Hungarian right hand shooter who won two Olympic Gold medals with his left hand after his right hand was seriously injured.
