Abhishek Bachchan to Join Samajwadi Party? The Actor & The Party Gave Statement

Bollywood actors turning into politicians is not new to the industry. Hema Malini, Kirron Kher and Jaya Bachchan are one of the most popular actresses who have joined politics and also contested elections from their respective parties.

Now, if the rumours are to be believed, Abhishek Bachchan is all set to enter the politics game by contesting 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Prayagraj, the birthplace of veteran actor and his father Amitabh Bachchan. Jaya Bachchan is already a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from Samajwadi Party.

Abhishek Bachchan’s Reaction on Entering Politics

When asked about the rumours, Abhishek told Zoom entertainment “I know nothing about politics. I am an actor. And that’s all I want to be all my life”.

He further told KoiMoi that “I have no idea where that came from.”

When asked about keeping his distance from politics, Abhishek said “I am an actor, and not a politician. I don’t understand politics. Hopefully in the coming years I will understand acting a little better.”

Did Amitabh Bachchan contest elections?

This is not known to many but Big B also contested elections once in his career. Amitabh Bachchan had contested the election in 1984 from the Congress party. He even defeated Hemwati Nandan Bahugana from Lok Dal by winning 68 percent votes but later he opted out of politics. When Big B was asked about his opinions on his family members getting into politics, he said “I cannot speak on behalf of any family member. Speaking for myself, I have permanently retired from politics.”

What does the Samajwadi Party have to say?

Anoop Sanda, the spokesperson of Samajwadi Party has also rejected the claims. As per India TV, he said that there is some kind of discussion going on in the party but he isn’t sure about anything at the moment.
