Air India and IndiGo Cancel Flights to 7 Border Cities Amid Security Concerns

IndiGo and Air India have announced the cancellation of their flights to and from several cities, including Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, and other border locations, due to the ongoing situation. Air India confirmed the cancellation of flights to and from Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot. IndiGo also suspended services to these cities.

“In view of the latest developments and keeping your safety in mind, flights to and from Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot are cancelled for Tuesday, 13th May. We are monitoring the situation and will keep you updated,” Air India said on X. IndiGo emphasized that the decision was made to prioritize passenger safety and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused, assuring that updates would be shared promptly.

These cancellations follow the reopening of several airports for civilian flights on Monday after temporary closures amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) resumed civilian flight operations at 32 airports, including locations like Ambala, Bathinda, and Shimla. This move followed a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan on Saturday, after intense military actions following a deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.
