Air India Flight Crashes After Take-Off, 241 De*d, Only One Survivor Confirmed

In a devastating aviation tragedy, Air India flight AI171, traveling from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after take-off on Wednesday afternoon, claiming 241 lives out of the 242 people onboard.

The aircraft, a 12-year-old Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, departed from Ahmedabad at 1:38 PM carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Barely minutes into its journey, the plane crashed, leading to a catastrophic loss of life.

Air India confirmed the horrifying toll in an official statement: “We regret to inform that, of the 242 aboard, there are 241 confirmed fatalities. The sole survivor is being treated in a hospital.” The only survivor, a British national of Indian origin, is said to be in critical condition.

The flight manifest included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, 7 Portuguese passengers, and 1 Canadian.

“This is a moment of profound grief,” the airline said, offering its deepest condolences to the families of those who perished. “Our current focus is on supporting all those affected, their families and loved ones.”

Air India has dispatched a special team of caregivers to Ahmedabad to assist the victims’ families and cooperate with local authorities.
