An Air India flight turbulence incident left at least 12 passengers and crew members with minor injuries after a Phuket-to-Delhi flight encountered severe turbulence during cruise on Tuesday. The aircraft reportedly dropped around 300 feet before regaining stability and landed safely at Delhi airport. All passengers and crew disembarked safely following the Air India flight turbulence event.
According to Air India, flight AI2379 experienced a brief turbulence-related event while cruising. The sudden change in altitude caused panic inside the cabin, prompting immediate medical assistance after the aircraft landed. At least 12 people, including passengers and crew members, were taken for medical assessment at the airport. The airline confirmed that no serious injuries have been reported.
Air India Confirms Safe Landing
In an official statement, Air India said flight AI2379 encountered a brief turbulence event that resulted in a momentary change in altitude. The airline confirmed that the aircraft landed safely in Delhi and all passengers and crew members safely disembarked.

Passenger Recalls Mid-Air Scare
One passenger described the incident as terrifying, saying the turbulence struck while the aircraft was cruising and many passengers were asleep.
“The flight suddenly felt like it stopped while moving and then started shaking violently. It continued like that for nearly two to three minutes,” the passenger told ANI. The passenger claimed that around 15 to 20 people appeared to have suffered injuries during the incident, although Air India has officially confirmed at least 12 people requiring medical attention.
Visuals shared by ANI showed injured passengers being assisted in wheelchairs and shifted to ambulances outside Delhi airport for precautionary treatment.
While turbulence is a common part of flying, severe turbulence can occasionally result in injuries, especially if passengers are not wearing seat belts or cabin crew members are moving through the aisle. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Air India flight turbulence incident.
