Following the high-impact Operation Sindoor, India has made its stance unmistakably clear: it will defend itself with force if provoked again, but it has no desire to escalate into a full-blown war. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval addressed the media on Thursday, issuing a strong warning to Pakistan while underlining India’s intent to maintain regional peace.
Doval confirmed that the operation was a targeted, precise mission aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. He emphasized that India reserves the right to defend its citizens but does not wish to disturb the larger balance in South Asia.
“There is no appetite for escalation on our side. But let no one mistake our restraint for weakness,” Doval stated, in what many see as a firm yet measured response to Pakistani provocations.
He also hinted that India’s next moves will depend entirely on Pakistan’s behavior in the coming days. If cross-border terrorism continues, India is prepared to take further action to safeguard its national interests.
While diplomatic backchannels remain open, Doval’s message reinforces India’s policy of strategic clarity: peace is the goal, but not at the cost of security. As the situation evolves, New Delhi seems committed to staying firm, watching closely, and acting decisively if required.
