The Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar seems to be very specific and strict about the script selection after the miserable failure of all his 5 movies in 2022. Kumar starred in Bachchan Pandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, Cuttputlli and Ram Setu in 2023, and all these proved to be disasters. Hence, he has rejected scripts of not one but three popular franchises.
While the exit of Akshay Kumar from Hera Pheri 3 has already made headlines and a huge buzz, now reports have revealed him walking out of Welcome 3 and Awaara Paagal Deewana 2.
As reported by Pinkvilla, a source in the know revealed, “Hera Pheri, Welcome, and Awara Pagal Deewana are three of the most loved franchises led by Akshay Kumar, and he was quite keen to revisit the iconic films. However, after several rounds of meetings, he has decided to take a step back, as he couldn’t align with the broad script idea.”
The insider also talked about the reason behind Akshay Kumar’s rejection. He added, “Akshay Kumar is well aware of his fans’ expectations of him in these comedy franchises. He refused to compromise on the quality of these scripts, as attempts to remake these sequels without proper thought and with other actors have already failed in the past.”
The source continued, “Akshay Kumar already has a busy calendar and is choosing his future scripts very carefully. He might opt for a fresh, new comedy than ride on the popularity of past franchises with half-baked scripts.”
Not only this, but a source close to Firoz Nadiadwala’s production house also revealed that the makers are now approaching other actors to star in the films. The insider said, “He’s now making it with a young actor and talks are on with multiple directors, in an attempt to somehow take the franchise forward.”
Moreover, Akshay Kumar has some projects in his kitty, including sequels and remakes. Other than these, he has been roped in to play the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in his debut Marathi movie Veer Daudale Saat.
