Akshay Kumar Set To Play Villain in ‘Stree 3′:  Confirms Filmmaker Dinesh Vijan, Joins Maddock Films’ Horror-Comedy Universe

Last year’s release ‘Stree 2’ became Bollywood’s biggest blockbuster at the box office. Made on a budget of 60 crores, this film collected a net of Rs 597.99 crore in the country and grossed Rs 857.15 crore worldwide. Akshay Kumar had a cameo in this horror-comedy directed by Amar Kaushik. Interestingly, while Akshay’s films like ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and ‘Sarfira’ did not appeal to the audience in 2024, his cameo in ‘Stree 2’ won a lot of hearts.

In such a situation, discussions have also started about his presence in ‘Stree 3’. Now filmmaker Dinesh Vijan has confirmed that Akshay Kumar will appear as a villain in ‘Stree 3’.

‘Stree 3′ is actually a part of Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe. This franchise also includes films like ‘Bhediya’ and ‘Munjya’. Recently, Maddock Films announced its line-up, in which it was said that ‘Stree 3’ will be released in theaters after two years on 13 August 2027. Recently, at the trailer launch of ‘Sky Force’, Akshay was asked if he would now be a part of the producer’s horror-comedy universe, to which Akshay said, ‘What can I say? Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande are its producers and they have to decide this. They are the ones who will invest the money.’

Now confirming Akshay Kumar’s role in ‘Stree 3’, Dinesh Vijan has said, ‘Of course, he is a part of this universe! He is our Thanos (laughs).’ For information, let us tell you that ‘Thanos’ was the super villain of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s superhero franchise ‘Avengers’. All the superheroes (Avengers) of Marvel had gathered together to kill that one person.

‘Stree 2’ has now been released on OTT. You can watch it on Prime Video. In the film, Akshay Kumar’s character is shown in a hospital for mentally challenged people. He remains the leader of everyone there. Although the name of this character was not revealed in the film, seeing the climax and post credit scene, it seems that he is a descendant of Sarkata.

By the way, talking about the upcoming films of this horror-comedy universe, ‘Thama’ will be released on the occasion of Diwali in 2025 and ‘Shakti Shalini’ on 31 December. Next year in 2026, ‘Bhediya 2’ is releasing on 14 August and ‘Chamundha’ on 4 December. While ‘Stree 3’ will be released on 13 August in the year 2027, ‘Maha Munjya’, the sequel of ‘Munjya’ is to be released on 24 December. The release date of ‘First World War’ has been set for 11 August and ‘Second World War’ for 18 October in the year 2028.
