All About Reggae Music Genre In Which Shubh Is Set To Release His Next Song

Yesterday, Punjabi pop singer Shubh announced his upcoming track through his Instagram Stories. He revealed that the track is going to be reggae music and this will be the first time the singer is going to try something of this genre.

He also shared that his single will be released next week which has left his fans excited!!

Not many are aware of what this music genre is and how did it originate, so let’s dig deep..

Reggae is a kind of music genre that has its origins in Jamaica. The genre originated in the 1960s. In 1968, a single by Toots and the Maytals, “Do the Reggae” was released and it was the first popular song to use the word reggae in it. This, in turn, named the music genre after it and introduced it to the global audience.

The term Reggae music is used to describe the most popular Jamaican dance music which is very much influenced by American Jazz and traditional mento. Reggae music usually involves news, social gossip and political commentaries.

One can recognize this music genre from the continuous playing of bass and drum downbeat with an offbeat rhythm section. Reggae is a mixture of different music elements of R&B, mento, jazz, African, calypso and Latin American music.

Two guitars are used to play this genre- one for the rhythm and the other for the lead. The style is easily recognizable by its offbeat rhythms.

Reggae’s immediate origins were in ska and rocksteady. The genre is also deeply linked to Rastafari which is an Afrocentric religion that developed in Jamaica in the 1930s. The music style was an important means of spreading important messages of Rastafari.

The religion believes that “the soldier and the musician are tools for change” and hence in this music genre the musician becomes a messenger, transporting messages and news of great importance.

Coming back to Shubh, not much has been revealed about his upcoming plans but by looking at the colourful history of this music genre, one can expect wonders from the Punjabi singer.

On the work front, Shubh has recently announced his Still Rollin world tour 2023 and the singer shall commence the tour from India itself.
