Speaking at a BJP Karyakarta Sammelan in Madurai, Union Home Minister Amit Shah blasted the ruling DMK for “massive corruption” and announced that the NDA would form Tamil Nadu’s next government.
Declaring that “it is not Shah who will defeat the DMK, it is the people of Tamil Nadu,” Shah rallied BJP workers to defeat the DMK by referring to Madurai as the “city of Parivartan.”
He accused the DMK of betraying the poor, women, and children by citing a number of scams, such as the ₹4,600 crore sand mining scandal, the ₹39,775 crore TASMAC liquor-sale scam, and alleged irregularities in a ₹450 crore nutrition kit project. Shah also blamed the government for the 66-person death toll from the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy.
Shah emphasized the DMK’s dismal record, claiming that less than 60% of the pledges made in the 2021 manifesto have been kept. He also mentioned the ₹6.8 lakh crore that the central government has given Tamil Nadu over a 10 year period.
With recent victories in states like Odisha, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Haryana, Shah reaffirmed the NDA’s increasing national momentum and boldly forecasted comparable outcomes in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal in 2026.
Shah’s claims were rejected by DMK spokesperson Dr. Syed Hafeezullah, who said, “The BJP may have a remote possibility to capture power, but not in Tamil Nadu, even in the USA.”
