Gadar 2 starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel saw its blockbuster opening on 11 August, 2023. The film clashed with Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 but it did not affect the success at all.
Gadar 2 is a sequel of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha which was released in 2001. After 22 years, makers have released the second part of the franchise which is no less than the original one. The songs and the characters of the film are almost the same which makes it more appealing as the fan base of Gadar was tremendous.
Audience was very excited to see Tara Singh and Sakeena again on the silver screen by reminiscing the old memories. Apart from the original songs like Mai Nikla Gaddi Leke and Udd Ja Kale Kaava, the starcast of the film is also almost the same.
Sunny Deol plays the role of Tara Singh, Ameesha Patel plays Sakeena and Utkarsh Sharma who was a child in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, plays the role Sunny Deol’s adult son Jeeta.
However one actor which we all miss is Amrish Puri. The late actor played a very important part in the first film but unfortunately he passed away in 2005. Obviously it wasn’t possible for the audience to watch the legendary actor in this film again but the makers found an interesting way to show him in one scene which stunned the audience.
How is it possible for the makers to bring Amrish Puri back?
Amrish Puri can be seen in a very important scene in Gadar 2. The makers tried to get Amrish Puri, who plays the role of Ashraf Ali in the film through CGI. The shot is very brief but the way it’s done shows the great efforts of the makers to keep Amrish Puri’s memory and role alive. It almost feels like Amrish Puri himself shot for the film.
Why was it important for the film to bring Amrish Puri back?
Makers of Gadar 2 tried to keep their originality by casting the same actors in the film but since the legend Amrish Puri passed away in 2005, it was completely impossible to keep that role of Ashraf Ali original. Through CGI, makers tried to include Amrish Puri in a very small and a brief scene which almost feels real. Although the scene is very short, inclusion of Amrish Puri makes it a complete and an unmatchable package.
A lot of attempts have also been made in Hollywood to bring back the dead through CJI. For Fast &Furious 7, makers brought back Paul Walker in the film through CJI due to the untimely demise of the actor.
