It’s horrible! right. But still there’s a school placed just a six-minute drive away from Jaisalmer’s famous Sand Dunes, which is structured in Kanoi village, to teach girls and empower them. The Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls’ School is made of yellow sandstone, and surprisingly, has no air conditioners, still remains cool. In this school, the students can study and even play in the secure courtyard without getting upset about the harsh weather.

The shape of the school is oval and the structure blends in the desert landscape. This area is known as Gyaan Centre and welcomes 400 girls from Kindergarten to Class X. There are buildings in school in which girls can be trained in traditional arts, perform for various occasions as well as exhibition space for artisans to sell their crafts. It is a non-profit organization that supports development in some of the most economically challenged, geographically remote or marginalized societies in the world.
