A fresh earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter Scale jolted Myanmar early Friday morning, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). With a shallow depth of just 10 kilometers, the quake increases the risk of aftershocks in the region.
In a post on X, the NCS said, “EQ of M: 4.1, On: 11/04/2025 08:02:14 IST, Lat: 18.34 N, Long: 95.89 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Myanmar.”
This tremor follows the devastating earthquake that struck on March 28, leading to widespread damage and a rare international appeal for assistance by Myanmar. In response, India launched Operation Brahma, a comprehensive relief mission.
As part of the initiative, an Indian team assessed six affected locations in Naypyitaw on Thursday. The Indian Embassy in Myanmar posted on X, “Widening Operation Brahma. After assessing 6 affected sites in Mandalay, the safety & demolition engineers team from India assessed 6 sites in Naypyitaw today. And an Orthopedic surgeon from our Medical team is assisting treatment of 70 patients at a Naypyitaw Hospital.”
India’s relief efforts have been ongoing, with the Indian Army setting up a Field Hospital in Mandalay, Myanmar’s hardest-hit city, where medical professionals continue to treat those injured in the disaster.
