Anurag Kashyap Blames Aditya Chopra For Shamshera’s Failure

Renowned Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap has some revelations about the YRF films failure at the box office. The Yash Raj banner films getting flop at the box office is now a trend for the past few films. The most recent among all is that Ranbir Kapoor led Shamshera.

Anurag Kashyap is on a promotional tour for his upcoming film, Dobaara, which stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead role. While on a regular busy promotional day, Anurag talked about some recently released films and their failure at the Box Office. The director pointed out YRF films mainly and said that films like Thugs of Hindostan and Shamshera are flunking at the Box Office.

According to Anurag, the reason behind all the failures is the YRF head Aditya Chopra. He said that, “In Bollywood, cinema is largely controlled by those people and the 2nd generation that has grown up in trial rooms. The biggest problem with YRF is the trial room effect.

He further added, “You take a story and you want to make a Pirates Of The Caribbean out of it, so it becomes Thugs Of Hindostan. You take a story you want to make Mad Max: Fury Road out of it, so it becomes Shamshera.

Anurag Kashyap thinks that if Shamshera would have released a few years ago then it would have done well at the Box Office but now it is the time when OTT platforms are ruling and people are exposed to it. According to the director, if Aditya Chopra, the YRF head, has hired a bunch of people then he needs to empower them rather than dictating them and controlling everything.
