Armed Robbery in Mohali: Motorcycle Snatched Near Mataur Village, Police Investigate

On Sunday evening, a distressing incident unfolded near Mataur village in Mohali, where a man was forcibly deprived of his motorcycle at gunpoint. The victim, Pargat Singh, originally from Faridkot and currently residing in Kumbran village, was waiting for his sister near the Mataur-Chawla crossing when two unidentified individuals approached him on a motorcycle.

Feigning the need for directions, they engaged him in conversation before one of them brandished a pistol, pushed him off his motorcycle, and fled the scene with the vehicle.

Following the incident, an FIR was registered at the Mataur police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Deputy Superintendent of Police Prithvi Singh Chahal stated that three police teams have been constituted to apprehend the culprits-two from the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Mohali and one from the Mataur police station. Authorities have collected CCTV footage from nearby market areas and key escape routes to aid in tracking down the suspects. 

This event adds to a series of similar incidents in the region, highlighting growing concerns over public safety and the need for heightened security measures in Mohali.
