An Army officer and his son were reportedly assaulted by police personnel in Punjab’s Patiala following a dispute over parking. The incident, which took place on March 13 outside a roadside eatery, was captured on CCTV.
According to reports, the altercation began when police personnel, dressed in civilian clothes, asked Colonel Pushpinder Bath, who is currently stationed at the Army Headquarters in Delhi, to move his vehicle. The situation quickly escalated after the officer objected to their tone.

What started as a verbal disagreement soon turned violent, with the police personnel allegedly kicking and punching Colonel Bath. When his son attempted to step in and defend him, he too was physically attacked. Shockingly, reports suggest that some of the officers even used baseball bats to assault them.
The incident has sparked outrage, leading to swift action from the authorities. Senior police official Dr. Nanak Singh confirmed that 12 police personnel have been suspended in connection with the assault. Additionally, a departmental inquiry has been initiated, which is expected to be completed within 45 days.
The shocking attack has raised concerns about police conduct and misuse of power. The inquiry’s findings will determine further action against those responsible for the violent altercation.
