
Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has appointed Arvinder Singh Lovely of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the protem speaker. The first session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly will take place on February 24, during which the Speaker will be elected at 2:00 PM. Before that, newly elected MLAs will take their oaths at 11:00 AM.
As per the Delhi Assembly bulletin, LG Saxena will address the assembly on February 25, and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports will be presented. The assembly will also discuss the motion of thanks for the LG’s address later that day. On February 26, the discussion on the motion will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the election of the Deputy Speaker. The notice for the Speaker’s election can be submitted before noon on February 22, 2025.
After taking oath as Delhi’s Chief Minister on Thursday, BJP leader Rekha Gupta held the first cabinet meeting and announced two major decisions. The Delhi government will implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme with a Rs 5 lakh top-up, and 14 pending CAG reports will be tabled in the first assembly session. Gupta stated that the government would fulfill all pre-election promises, including paying for the top-up through a MoU with the Centre.
