Actor Manoj Bajpayee’s upcoming courtroom drama ‘Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai,’ which is all set for release on Zee5, seems to have landed in trouble as it received a legal notice from godman Asaram Bapu. As per the Hindustan Times report, Asaram sent the notice to the filmmakers through his charitable trust. In 2018 for a rape case of a minor at an ashram in Jodhpur, the trial court sentenced Asaram Bapu to life imprisonment.
The movie’s trailer was released last week and created quite a stir. In the courtroom drama, Manoj Bajpayee portrays the role of a high court lawyer, PC Solanki, who single-handedly fights an extraordinary case of the rape of a minor against a powerful godman under the POCSO Act. Moreover, the film’s trailer has a disclaimer that says that real-life incidents inspire it.
Reportedly, Asaram Bapu has now sent a legal notice to the filmmakers through his charitable trust. The lawyers state that the film is highly objectionable and defamatory towards their client and can tarnish his reputation and hit the sentiments of his devotees and followers. Additionally, Asaram asked the court to issue orders prohibiting the film’s promotion and release.

The producer of the film confirmed the news to the Times of India and replied to the same by stating, “Yes, we have got the notice, and our lawyers will decide the next move. We have made a biopic on PC Solanki, and I had bought the rights from him to make this film. Now, if someone is saying that the film is based on them, they can think whatever they can, and we can’t stop that. Only the film will be able to tell the truth when it comes out.”
Manoj Bajpayee stated, “Portraying the role of PC Solanki in Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai has been an incredible experience as it is the inspiring story of an ordinary man who fought an extraordinary case against all odds for truth and justice…I hope that it appeals to the viewers and compels them to witness this story of victory and what all it took for PC Solanki to achieve what he did.” as per the ANI.
