Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma have officially parted ways, with the Mumbai family court granting their divorce on Thursday. Reports suggest that Chahal has paid an alimony of ₹4.75 crore.
Following the news, Dhanashree shared a snippet from her latest music video, Dekha Ji Dekha Maine, on Instagram. However, her post quickly attracted trolling, with several users referencing the alimony amount.
One comment read, “Mam amount credit ho gya account mein 4.75cr? [Ma’am, did you receive the ₹4.75 crore in your account?]” while another questioned, “Rs 4 crore kyun liye? [Why did you take ₹4 crore?]”
Another user wrote, “Ab kisko ATM banaogi tum batatdo? [Now whom will you make an ATM? Tell us.]” Many labeled Dhanashree a “gold digger,” and one user even suggested, “Donate that 4.75 crore to poor people.”
Despite the criticism, Dhanashree remained focused on promoting her music video, captioning her post, “Let #DekhaJiDekhaMaine be the song that understands your unspoken words.”
From Social Media Couple Goals to Divorce
Chahal and Dhanashree, who tied the knot in December 2020 in Gurgaon, were once a beloved couple on social media, often sharing glimpses of their relationship. However, by 2023, signs of trouble began to emerge. Their interactions became infrequent, and cryptic Instagram posts fueled speculation about their relationship status.
As time passed, the rumors gained momentum. Towards the end of the year, Chahal removed their pictures from his social media accounts, and both of them unfollowed each other on Instagram.
In February this year, the couple was seen outside the Bandra Family Court, where they filed for divorce by mutual consent. They had also requested the court to waive the six-month mandatory cooling-off period, but the plea was denied.
After living separately for 18 months, Chahal and Dhanashree’s divorce was officially finalized on March 20.
