This year, Navratri, Durga Puja, Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra, Diwali and several other important festivals are falling in the month of October. And this directly will affect the working of banks in India. The Banks in India will be closed for a total of 21 days including the second & fourth Saturdays, and 5 Sundays.
While some holidays will be state-specific, during the national holidays, banks will be closed across India.

The longest bank holidays will be observed in majorly eastern India- Tripura, Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. Banks will be closed for 4 continuous days in these states from October 2 to October 5. While in Gangtok and Sikkim, banks will be closed from October 4-7.

October 1- Saturday: Half yearly closing. In Sikkim, banks will be closed on 1 October.
October 2- Sunday: Gandhi Jayanti
October 3- Monday: Durga Puja (Maha Ashtami), banks will be closed in Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Kerala, Bihar, and Manipur
October 4- Tuesday: Durga Puja/Dussehra (Maha Navami)/Ayudha pooja/ Janmotsav of Srimanta Sankardeva-banks will be closed in Karnataka, Odisha, Sikkim, Kerala, Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Meghalaya.
October 5- Wednesday: Durga Puja/Dussehra (Vijaya Dashmi)/Janmotsav of Srimanta Sankardeva. Banks will be closed across India, except in Manipur
October 6- Thursday: Durga Puja (Dasain). Banks will be closed in Gangtok, Sikkim.
October 7- Friday: Banks will be closed in Gangtok, Sikkim.

Diwali Bank Holidays
Banks will be closed for a long weekend during the Diwali festivals. Banks will be closed from 22 October-24 October, except in Sikkim, Telangana, and Manipur. In Gangtok, banks will be closed from 25 October to 27 October.
22 October: Fourth Saturday
23 October: Sunday
24 October: Kali Puja/Deepavali/Laxmi Pujan (Diwali)/Naraka Chaturdashi.
Banks Holidays During Weekends In October
In October, banks will be closed on 8 October and 22 October (second and fourth Saturdays). And, on October 2,9,16,23 and 30 due to the Sunday holiday.
