After months of silence and tension, the Asia Cup trophy dispute between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) might finally see an end. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that he met PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi in Dubai, and both sides have agreed to move forward positively to resolve the long-standing issue. Asia Cup trophy dispute

Naqvi, who also heads the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister, arrived at the ICC meeting in Dubai at the last minute on Friday. During the conference, the ICC facilitated a one-on-one meeting between Saikia and Naqvi, which reportedly went well.
“I was a part of both the formal and informal ICC meetings,” Saikia told PTI. “PCB chairperson Mohsin Naqvi was also present. It was not on the agenda, but the ICC facilitated a separate discussion between us. It’s good that the process of negotiation has finally begun.”
Trophy Still Locked In Dubai ACC Office
As per reports, the Asia Cup trophy remains at the ACC headquarters in Dubai. Staff members have been instructed not to move it without Naqvi’s approval, as he insists on handing it personally to Team India. The Asia Cup trophy dispute started after India refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi following their win, citing political discomfort.

Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, had defeated Pakistan by five wickets to lift the Asia Cup 2025 title. However, the victory was marred by controversies, including the trophy handover and earlier tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
Saikia said the meeting went “cordially” and that “the ice has been broken.” Both sides will now present options to resolve the matter amicably.
