Bengaluru’s RCB Fever Peaks as Auto Driver Offers Free Rides to Jersey-Wearers

Bengaluru is alive with IPL fever as fans of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) continue to cheer passionately for their team. Despite last night’s defeat against Gujarat Titans at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the city’s unwavering support for RCB remains as strong as ever.

Amid this cricket frenzy, an auto driver’s heartwarming initiative has captured everyone’s attention. Ajmal Sultan, popularly known as Azzu Sultan, has gone viral for his special tribute to RCB fans—offering free rides to passengers donning RCB jerseys. His signboard, which read, “Free ride if you are wearing RCB jersey,” quickly turned him into an Internet sensation. A video showcasing his gesture has garnered over seven lakh views, with social media abuzz with admiration. One fan commented, “RCB Fans Respect Button,” while another quipped, “Offer valid till RCB wins the tournament.”

This isn’t the first time Sultan has made headlines. A few months ago, he won praise for promoting linguistic inclusivity in Bengaluru by introducing a leaflet titled “Learn Kannada with Auto Kannadiga.” The guide featured simple Kannada phrases with English translations, encouraging non-Kannada speakers to communicate more easily while fostering cultural connection in the city.

RCB had a strong start to their IPL season, securing victories in their first two matches. However, their momentum was halted in last night’s game against Gujarat Titans. After being sent in to bat by Gujarat skipper Shubman Gill, RCB put up a total of 169/8, with Liam Livingstone leading the charge with a well-fought half-century. Gujarat Titans, in response, comfortably chased down the target, thanks to a stellar unbeaten 73 off 39 balls by Jos Buttler.

Despite the loss, Bengaluru’s passion for RCB remains unwavering, with fans like Sultan proving that their support goes far beyond just the game.
