BIG BREAKING: Former Japan PM Shinzo Abe Dies After Being Shot

Shinzo Abe, the former prime minister of Japan, who was shot this morning while campaigning for parliamentary election in Nara, is no more, as confirmed by the broadcaster NHK. Mr. Abe was the longest serving prime minister of Japan, who stepped down in 2020 due to health reasons. 

Abe was campaigning in Nara, West Japan, near a railway station, where he was shot minutes after he started his speech. He was airlifted to a hospital and his treatment was started, but unfortunately, he stopped breathing and his heart’s pumping had also stopped. 

Shinzo Abe’s death came out as a big shock for the leaders and masses across the globe. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the same, tweeted:

“I am shocked and saddened beyond words at the tragic demise of one of my dearest friends, Shinzo Abe. He was a towering global statesman, an outstanding leader, and a remarkable administrator. He dedicated his life to make Japan and the world a better place.”

Remembering his association and relations with former Japan PM Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister Narendra Modi further added:

“My association with Mr. Abe goes back many years. I had got to know him during my tenure as Gujarat CM and our friendship continued after I became PM. His sharp insights on economy and global affairs always made a deep impression on me.”

As per the media reports, the Japan police has arrested a 41-year-old guy who is the suspect in former PM Shinzo Abe’s murder. While Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has condemned the murder of former PM Shinzo Abe, calling it an “unacceptable attack on the foundation of Japan’s democracy.”
