Bihar Political Crisis: Nitish All Set To Break Ties With BJP? Political Temperature Rises In Patna

Amidst a series of hard hitting statements against each other from the BJP and JD(U) camp, today Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has called a meeting of all the MPs, followed by a meeting of all JD(U) MLAs later in the day. With this, there are strong speculations of Nitish Kumar again switching sides.

However, BJP stalwart and union minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey has cleared that the NDA alliance is intact in Bihar, but, contrary to this, JD(U)’s national president Lalan Singh’s statement depicts that all is “NOT” well between both the political partners in Bihar.

In a statement given to the media, Lalan Singh, the national president of JD(U), said, “I’ve heard in the media that RCP Singh became minister on Amit Shah’s request. Will Amit Shah take the JD(U)’s decision”? This statement was an attack on RCP Singh, moreover seen as an indirect attack on the BJP.

On the other hand, all 79 MLAs of the RJD, 19 of the INC and 16 of the Left front, means a total of 114 MLAs have reached the residence of former CM and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. Additionally, all these three parties have already stated that if Nitish Kumar separates himself from the NDA, they’re ready to support him.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA Shakeel Ahmed Khan said, “The Mahagathbandhan government is all set to return to power in Bihar.” Furthermore, the BJP high command has directed its leaders to be silent on RCP Singh and alliance issues in Bihar.

In terms of numbers, the RJD stands at 79, followed by the BJP at 74, JD(U) at 43, Congress at 19, Left at 16 and HAM (Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party) at 4 MLAs. Amongst these, the RJD, Congress, Left front and the HAM are ready to support Nitish Kumar, if and when he quits the NDA.

If that happens, with the support of the opposition parties, the Mahagathbandhan government would stand at 161 while the BJP would be left with 74 MLAs. However, as per the media reports, Union HM Amit Shah spoke to CM Nitish Kumar last night. The BJP is trying its best to save the BJP-JD(U) alliance in Bihar.

Moreover, it’s clear that the next 72 hours would be crucial for Bihar politics.
