BJD Chief Naveen Patnaik Extends Support To Droupadi Murmu, NDA All Set To Win The Presidential Elections

The NDA’s candidate for the upcoming presidential polls – Mrs Droupadi Murmu has received the support of the BJD (Biju Janata Dal) as announced by party chief and Odisha’s CM Naveen Patnaik. Now with the support of the BJD, the vote share in favour of NDA has touched 50%.

The votes of the BJD, including its MLAs as well as Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha MPs, counts for a total of 32,000 votes and around 2.9% of vote share. BJD extending support to the NDA is seen as a jolt to UPA candidate Yashwant Sinha who was expecting to get the support of all the old-guards of Janata Dal.

On the other hand, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, who earlier said that the JD(U) would clear its stand after the candidate is declared, has also announced that the JD(U) would support the NDA candidate Mrs. Droupadi Murmu in the upcoming presidential elections.

With BJD’s support, the vote share in favour of the NDA alliance has crossed 50%, which means now it will be an easy victory for Mrs. Droupadi Murmu, increasing the troubles for the opposition’s candidate Yashwant Sinha. The BJD in Odisha has 114 MLAs (Members of Legislative Assembly) 12 MPs in the Lok Sabha and nine in the Rajya Sabha.

Apart from the JD(U) and BJD, the NDA candidate is likely to get the support of various regional parties including the AIADMK, and the YSRCP for its candidate Mrs. Droupadi Murmu in the forthcoming presidential polls.
