The BJP launched a sharp attack on Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, branding him the “posterboy of Pakistan” in response to his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance on Pakistan.
The political sparring escalated after Rahul Gandhi, in a post on X, accused PM Modi of compromising India’s “prestige” and questioned why the Prime Minister had allegedly “sacrificed the nation’s interests” by agreeing to a ceasefire with Pakistan. “Modi ji, stop giving hollow speeches. Just tell: Why did you believe Pakistan’s statement on terrorism? Why did you sacrifice India’s interests by bowing to Trump? Why does your blood boil only in front of cameras? You have compromised with the prestige of India!” he wrote.

Responding to these remarks, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi took a swipe at Gandhi, saying, “It seems finally you have seen PM Modi’s address. Even if it took you 10 days, it’s a good thing.” He added, “Modi government is not sending love letters, as was done for years by your own party.” He emphasized that the current government had delivered the “strongest response ever.”
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari also joined the counterattack. In a post on X, he wrote, “Speaks a man who is the posterboy of Pakistan!” and further alleged, “Congress today has become nothing but a pro Pakistan fake news factory.”
The Congress party has been raising concerns over the government’s decision to halt Operation Sindoor, questioning the rationale behind stopping military operations when the armed forces were reportedly gaining ground and targeting terror infrastructure across the border.
The exchange has added fuel to the already intense political discourse between the BJP and Congress on matters of national security and foreign policy.
