Bollywood Film On Amritsar Er Jaswant Singh Gill, Who Saved 65 Miners’ Lives, To Be Made Soon

Bollywood’s obsession with Punjab seems to be never-ending. After making various films on Punjabi history and prominent figures, Bollywood is now all set to make a Biopic on an Amritsar-based Engineer, Jaswant Singh Gill. The Engineer is famous for his heroic efforts of saving the lives of 65 miners who got trapped inside a flooded coal mine in Raniganj of West Bengal in 1989.

In 1991, Jaswant Singh Gill was awarded the prestigious “Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak” by the then President Of India, Ramaswamy Venkataraman. To honour him, a chowk on the Majitha Road in Punjab, has also been named after him. One of the top Bollywood actors could play the lead role in the Biopic being made. Akshay Kumar, Vicky Kaushal and Ajay Devgn, are the actors under consideration as of now.

Dr. Sarvpreet Singh Gill, son of Er. Jaswant Singh Gill, said that his father had earlier entered into an agreement with the makers of the film and had himself given the rights to make the biopic to Director Dharmendra Suresh Desai. The director visited Gill’s house recently.

Though Jaswant Singh Gill passed away in 2019, his legacy still remains. It is clear by the fact how big the film is going to be, considering the stature of actors that have been fighting for it and are under consideration for the lead role. Though there isn’t a set release date for the film but we are sure it will be in front of us soon.
