During the silver jubilee celebrations of IIFA 2025, producer Boney Kapoor shared that he is planning a sequel to Mom, Sridevi’s last film, with his daughter Khushi Kapoor. Speaking on the green carpet, he expressed his admiration for his daughters, Khushi and Janhvi Kapoor, acknowledging their efforts to follow in their mother’s footsteps and strive for excellence in the film industry.
“I have watched all of Khushi’s films—Archies, Loveyappa, and Nadaaniyaan. I am planning a film with her too after No Entry. It could be Mom 2. She is trying to follow in the footsteps of her mother. Her mother was the top star in all the languages she worked in. I hope Khushi and Janhvi succeed in this same level of perfection,” said Boney Kapoor.
Released in 2017, Mom featured Sridevi in a powerful role and was directed by Ravi Udyawar. The actress was posthumously honored with the National Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film.
Boney Kapoor also shared updates about his upcoming project, No Entry 2. He mentioned that the film is expected to go on floors between July and August and that while some leading actresses have been finalized, the official cast announcement will be made later. “It (No Entry) will go sometime in July-August. There are too many leading ladies, so I can’t just talk about a few now. We have locked a few now and have some more to go. After we finalise, there will be a formal announcement,” he said.
The sequel to the 2005 comedy No Entry has already entered pre-production. While details about the storyline remain under wraps, reports suggest that Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, and Diljit Dosanjh will play key roles. The original film, directed by Anees Bazmee, was a massive hit, starring Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, and Esha Deol.
The IIFA Digital Awards, held on March 8, saw major wins for Panchayat Season 3, Amar Singh Chamkila, Jitendra Kumar, and Kriti Sanon. The main IIFA Awards night, hosted by Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar on March 9, featured a special performance by Kareena Kapoor Khan, who paid tribute to her grandfather, legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor.
Earlier in the day, the event also marked the 50th anniversary of the iconic Bollywood classic Sholay with a special screening at Jaipur’s historic Rajmandir Cinema.
