Sridevi’s sudden demise in 2018 shocked the entire nation. Sridevi was one of the most celebrated veteran actresses of the Indian film industry who has worked in several Bollywood films like Nagina, Chandni, Mr India, Aulad, Suhaagan etc.
Sridevi passed away on 24 February 2018 at Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel, Dubai after drowning in a bathtub. Her husband Boney Kapoor has always maintained that her death wasn’t natural but an accident.
Boney Kapoor Breaks His Silence On Sridevi’s Death
Now recently Boney Kapoor has broken his silence on Sridevi’s death and revealed the reason behind it. In a conversation with the Indian Express as quoted by Koimoi.com, he said “It was not a natural death; it was an accidental death. I had decided not to speak about it because I spoke about it for almost 24 or 48 hours together when I was being investigated and interrogated. In fact, the officers said we had to go through this because there was a lot of pressure from Indian media. And they discovered there was no foul play. I went through all the tests, including lie detector tests and all those things. And then, of course, the report which came clearly stated it was accidental.”
He further said “She often used to starve; she wanted to look good. She wanted to make sure she’s in good shape, so that on-screen, she looked good. From the time she was married to me, she had blackouts on a couple of occasions, and the doctor kept on saying she had a low BP issue”.
Boney Kapoor also mentioned the incident which was shared by Nagarjuna in which Sridevi fainted in the bathroom because of weakness. He shared “It was unfortunate. Later, when she passed away. Nagarjuna had come home to offer his condolences, and he told me that during one of her movies, she was again on a crash diet, and that’s how she fell in the bathroom and broke her teeth.”
Boney Kapoor also shared that after their marriage, he was aware of Sridevi’s tendency of strict diet. She would eat her food without salt because she wanted to maintain her figure. Boney also revealed that he would ask her dietician to add salt in the food but he wasn’t prepared that something of this sort would happen to her.
