As stated by CEC (Chief Election Commissioner of India) Rajiv Kumar, there are more than 43,000 first time voters in Himchal Pradesh, while, surprisingly, more than 1,000 voters are above the age of 100 years, and the Election commission officials will be going to their places to facilitate them with voting. Additionally, in order to stop the movement of money as well as liquor or drugs, the borders of the poll bound states would be sealed, and the KYC- Know Your Candidates, will be made accessible to see the criminal records of the candidates.

On the other hand, the CEC even cleared that the ECI officials will be going to the places of the voters aged more than 80 years, to facilitate them with voting, adding that the entire process will be videographed, while some specific polling booths will be managed by the PWDs. Furthermore, the ECI will even identify the booths with lowest polling, in each constituency, to encourage the active participation of the voters in the assembly polls. “However, the situation of Covid is not a major concern now, but the required precautionary measures will be taken,” said the CEC.

With these announcements, it’s clear now that the voting in Himachal Pradesh will take place on November 12th. Moreover, this time, with the entry of the Aam Aadmi Party in the electoral battle, the polls in Himachal may witness a three-cornered contest between the Congress, BJP and the AAP. However, there’s a recorded trend in the state, that in every five years, the people change the governments, choosing the BJP and the Congress party alternatively. Moreover, it will be interesting to see if the BJP breaks this record like it did in UP and Uttarakhand, or the Congress party wins the race. Meanwhile, the AAP also can’t be ignored.
