Canada Return Couple Marries In Punjab’s Fields, Inspired By Farmers Protest

In a rare and heartwarming twist to traditional wedding customs, a couple from Canada returned to their roots in Punjab to celebrate their wedding in an extraordinary way. Unlike conventional ceremonies where the groom arrives at the bride’s home with a grand procession, this wedding in Firozpur’s Kari Kalan village saw the bride leading the baraat to the groom’s house.

The bride, Harman, turned the tables and led the wedding procession to her groom, Durlabh’s home. Accompanied by lively music and dancing relatives, the baraat created a memorable spectacle that left the villagers in awe.

Adding to the uniqueness of the occasion, the wedding was not held in a grand hall or palace but in the middle of a lush wheat field. The groom’s family had set up a large tent amidst the standing crops, creating an enchanting setting. Even the dining arrangements for guests were made within the field, blending celebration with nature in a picturesque manner.

Despite living in Canada, the couple felt a strong connection to their homeland and wanted their wedding to reflect this bond. Inspired by the ongoing farmers’ protests at the Haryana border, they decided to marry in the fields to honor Punjab’s agricultural heritage. Their gesture was seen as a tribute to their homeland and its hard working farmers.
