The much-anticipated action thriller Sikandar, featuring Salman Khan, has cleared the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a UA 13+ rating. While the film’s theatrical trailer, spanning 3 minutes and 38 seconds, received approval without cuts, the final version underwent minor modifications before certification on March 21.
The CBFC directed the filmmakers to mute the word “Home” from the phrase “Home Minister” throughout the film. Additionally, a political party’s hoarding had to be blurred. However, fans can breathe easy, as no action or violent sequences were removed.
Following these changes, the makers received the censor certificate, confirming a run time of 2 hours 30 minutes and 8 seconds. However, industry insiders suggest that the final theatrical cut is slightly shorter at 2 hours 15 minutes and 46 seconds.
Directed by Ghajini (2008) filmmaker A R Murugadoss and backed by Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Sikandar boasts an ensemble cast, including Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, Kajal Aggarwal, and Anjini Dhawan. The film is set to hit cinemas on Sunday, March 30, with advance bookings opening on Tuesday, March 25.
Opting for an unconventional Sunday release, the makers are banking on an extended festive period. With Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra on March 30, followed by Eid celebrations on March 31, and a post-Eid holiday effect in several regions until April 2, the film is poised for a robust box office run. The momentum is expected to pick up again from April 4, ensuring strong collections till at least April 6.
