CBI Arrests Retired Colonel in Rs 22 Lakh Bribe Case in Haryana Trap

In a swift and strategic operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a retired Army officer in Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri for accepting a hefty bribe of Rs 22 lakh. The man in question, retired Colonel R S Chauhan, was caught red-handed as he allegedly received the cash from a complainant.

The bribe was reportedly in exchange for clearing bills and facilitating the release of payment related to a road construction project. Acting on a complaint, the CBI set up a well-planned trap after verifying the details. On the day of the operation, CBI officials closely monitored the meeting where Chauhan accepted the bribe.

Once the cash changed hands, the CBI team moved in and arrested him on the spot. Officials later searched his residence in Panchkula, where they reportedly recovered more documents related to the case.

According to the CBI, Chauhan had been working as a consultant with a road infrastructure firm and used his position to demand illegal gratification for clearance of bills related to a government contract.

This arrest adds another high-profile name to the CBI’s ongoing crackdown on corruption in infrastructure projects. Chauhan has since been presented before the designated CBI court. The investigation is continuing, and more details are expected as the probe unfolds.
