ChatGPT Haggles Auto Fare in Bengaluru, Wins Hearts with Fluent Kannada Bargaining Skills

In a now-viral clip that’s tickling the internet, Bengaluru-based content creator Sajan Mahto demonstrated a surprisingly practical use of artificial intelligence, bargaining with an auto-rickshaw driver. Known for exploring tech’s role in everyday life, Mahto took a creative turn by getting ChatGPT to haggle on his behalf.

Describing Bengaluru autos as a “jackpot with a price,” Mahto filmed himself feeding ChatGPT a prompt: “The driver is asking ₹200, but I’m a student. Please reduce it to ₹100 and speak like my elder brother.”

What followed was ChatGPT’s polite voice message in Kannada: “Anna, namaskara, he’s a student who travels this route often. Can you make it ₹120?” The auto driver chuckled at the AI’s respectful tone, countered with ₹150, but eventually settled for ₹120.

The deal was clinched with ChatGPT concluding in Kannada, “Thank you, Anna, 120 is fine!” a moment that left both Mahto and the internet impressed.

Currently a content writer with popular tech YouTuber Tech Burner, Mahto’s experiment drew widespread applause online. Social media users lauded it as a creative, real-world use of AI, especially in a city where language and negotiation often clash for newcomers.
