Colombia Withdraws Condolences to Pakistan After India Clarifies PoK Strike Situation in UN

In a diplomatic twist at the United Nations, Colombia has withdrawn its expression of sympathy towards Pakistan over India’s recent anti-terror operation in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). This shift came after India’s delegation, headed by MP and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor, presented the actual facts behind the strike to UN members.

The condolence note initially extended by Colombia had described the strike as an attack on Pakistan. However, after India clarified that the operation specifically targeted terrorist infrastructure in PoK, Colombia re-evaluated its position and rescinded the message.

Sources confirm that during a meeting of the UN’s Palestinian Rights Committee, the Indian delegation took the opportunity to explain the context and necessity of the targeted strike. Tharoor, known for his diplomatic acumen, reportedly emphasized that the action was in self-defense and aimed solely at eliminating terror threats.

Following the Indian explanation, Colombia promptly took down the original condolence message. The Ministry of External Affairs of India has appreciated Colombia’s responsiveness and understanding of the situation.

This incident underscores India’s growing influence in international diplomacy and the importance of narrative clarity in global forums. It also highlights how prompt and transparent communication can significantly shift global perspectives, even reversing previously stated positions by foreign nations.
