During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow in Vadodara on May 26, 2025, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi’s family paid a heartfelt tribute by showering him with flower petals. The gesture was a public acknowledgment of Modi’s leadership and his initiatives promoting women’s empowerment.
Colonel Qureshi, a distinguished Indian Army officer, gained national attention for her role in Operation Sindoor, where she was one of the two female officers briefing the media on India’s cross-border strikes against terror targets. Her family’s participation in the roadshow highlighted their pride in both her achievements and the Prime Minister’s support for women in the armed forces.
As Modi’s convoy passed through the city, Qureshi’s family waved and showered flowers on him. Her twin sister, Shyna Sunsara, expressed admiration for the Prime Minister, stating, “It’s an honor to meet the Prime Minister. Not everyone is that lucky… PM Modi has done a lot for women’s empowerment.” Their brother, Sanjay Qureshi, also shared his pleasure at seeing the Prime Minister and noted that Modi acknowledged their presence with a gesture of greeting.
The event underscored the intersection of national pride, military service, and public support for political leadership. It also reflected the broader recognition of the government’s focus on gender equality and women’s empowerment under PM Modi’s leadership.
