Complaint Filed Against Music Company Owners For Selling Shoot Da Order Without Lyricist’s Consent

Simran Goraya, aka Mr. Wow, a resident of the Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar In Mohali, has filed a legal complaint against the owners of a Music Company for allegedly selling a song written by him, to a third entity, without the lyricist’s consent. Simran Goraya, the complainant is a lyricist, music director and producer concerned with the Punjabi Industry.

Simran filed a complaint with the Police on 6 December, 2021 wherein he accused Anil Jain and Yatin Jain of the Vardhman Music Company. In the complaint, he alleged that Anil and Yatin contacted him to sell one of his songs “Shoot Da Order”, assuring him 50% of the total earnings from the song.

However, according to the complainant, the accused later went on to sell the song “Shoot Da Order” to KV Dhillon, owner of Geet MP3 Music Company. The song was later used in a movie without the consent of the lyricist, Simran Goraya.

Sub Inspector Gursewak Singh, who is investigating the matter, has revealed that a case under Section 420 and Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code have been filed on the accused, accusing him of Cheating and Criminal Conspiracy on the basis of Simran Goraya’s Complaint. Section 52A and Section 68A of the Copyright Act have also been lodged at the Division number 5 Police Station on the accused, on the basis of the complaint.
