The elections for the Congress President post, have actually turned out to be the biggest political mystery today. Furthermore, today, as stated by Madhusudan Mistry, the general secretary of the AICC, Digvijaya Singh as well as Shashi Tharoor will be filing their nominations after 12:15 PM, whereas Mallikarjun Kharge would file his nomination at around 2:30 PM. Subsequently, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari will be the proposer of Mr. Kharge.
With Kharge’s entry in the race, the battle for the Congress president post has turned into a three cornered contest between him, Digvijaya Singh and Shashi Tharoor. As believed, Mr. Digvijaya may not file his nomination today, or if he does, will take back his name by 4th of October.
If that happens, it will be a clear edge for Mallikarjun Kharge over Shashi Tharoor. Likewise, Mr. Tharoor has already cleared that it will be a friendly fight. Though, the long going drama with first Ashok Gehlot coming in, then stepping away after Rajasthan’s crisis, then Digvijaya Singh’s entry, and now the news that Mallikarjun Kharge will also file the nomination, has created a confusion amongst the party delegates.
However, it will be interesting to see what happens next. Will Digvijaya Singh step back? Or will it be a three cornered contest? No one knows yet, but in the coming two to three days, the situation will be clear!
