Congress To Hold “Satyagraha” Against GoI’s “Agnipath” Tomorrow At Jantar Mantar

Amidst protests against the “agnipath” scheme across the country, the grand-old-party has planned to hold a “satyagraha” at Jantar Mantar in the national capital tomorrow. As per the info, all the office bearers of the AICC and the members of CWC will participate in INC’s “satyagraha”.

For the last 3 days, the youth cross the country have been protesting against the “agnipath” scheme, demanding its repeal. Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, who has been hospitalized after Covid, also wrote an open letter to the Central government against the scheme.

In the open letter, she quoted, “I appeal to everyone to protest peacefully, in a non-violent way. The Indian National Congress is with you. I can understand the pain of our youth as no vacancies in the Indian Army have been filled for the last 3 years. It’s unfortunate that the government has ignored your grievances and started a new scheme, which is absolutely direction less. Not just you, even the army veterans and defence officials have raised questions over this new scheme.”

The protests against “agnipath” have increased in the past 2 days. Today, Ludhiana railway station in Punjab was vandalized by the protestors. As quoted by news agency ANI:

“#AgnipathRecruitmentScheme | Punjab’s Ludhiana railway station vandalised by agitators

Police immediately took action. Around 8-10 persons have been rounded up. Some people have called them & misused them. We’ve videos available & are identifying them: RS Brar, Jt CP, Ludhiana”

Meanwhile, the AAP MP Raghav Chadha has also slammed the Central govt over “agnipath” scheme. In a statement given to ANI, Raghav Chadha said, “The Agnipath scheme robs the jawans of their job security, making it harder for them to stay motivated.”

Though the central defence minister Rajnath Singh held a meeting today with the service chiefs, the Central government doesn’t seem to repeal the entire scheme as demanded by the protestors as well as the oppisition. Now all eyes are set on the “satyagraha” the grand-old-party is going to hold tomorrow at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
