Couple’s Viral ‘Bharat Jodo Vivah’ Wedding Card Celebrates Unity, Invites Gandhi Siblings

A couple has drawn inspiration from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra to celebrate their wedding as a tribute to India’s rich diversity. Abhilasha Kotwal and Vinal William have named their union ‘Bharat Jodo Vivah’, symbolizing the spirit of unity. To make their celebration even more meaningful, they invited Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, seeking their blessings.

Hailing from diverse backgrounds, Ms. Kotwal has roots in Jammu and Bengal, while Mr. William’s lineage traces back to Punjab and Kerala. Their wedding invitation beautifully reflects this cultural blend, introducing them as the ‘daughter of Jammu and Bengal’ and the ‘son of Punjab and Kerala’.

Ms. Kotwal shared the invite on X, tagging the Gandhi siblings and writing, “When your wedding is more diverse than a coalition government, you know it’s special! [Rahul Gandhi], [Priyanka Gandhi] – our love story embodies the values you stand for. We’d be honored to have your blessings!”

She also personally delivered the invitation to the Gandhi residence, accompanied by chocolates and a mini copy of the Indian Constitution.

Adding a unique personal touch, she revealed that years ago, her mother had designed Priyanka Gandhi’s wedding invitation. The invite quickly gained traction online, resonating with many. The ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, Rahul Gandhi’s 4,080-km journey across India from September 2022 to January 2023, was a call for unity, making it a fitting inspiration for the couple’s wedding celebration.
