A disturbing act of animal cruelty has shaken Titka village in Assam’s Bajali district, where a cow was violently attacked after it wandered into a crop field.
The cow, belonging to a woman named Jutika Haloi, had strayed into the farmland of one Biren Talukdar and grazed on some of his crops. Upset over the damage, Talukdar reportedly demanded Rs 10,000 as compensation from Haloi.
When the compensation was not paid in the time he had specified, Talukdar allegedly resorted to a horrifying form of punishment – he severed the ear of the cow in a fit of vengeance.
The incident, both shocking and heartbreaking, has triggered outrage in the local community. Villagers staged protests, calling for accountability and justice for the innocent animal.
Authorities are yet to confirm if an FIR has been officially filed, but they have assured that an investigation is currently in progress to establish the facts and decide the next steps.
This deeply unsettling event underscores the urgent need for stronger enforcement of animal welfare laws and better conflict resolution mechanisms in rural communities. Locals are demanding not only justice for the cow but also systemic change to prevent such brutal acts in the future.
