Deepika Padukone Was Initially Rejected For Om Shanti Om. Here Is What Saved Her Debut

Everyone is not lucky to be casted opposite Shah Rukh Khan in their debut film, but Deepika Padukone was one fortunate girl. A model who was spotted by Farah Khan while looking for a new face for her film Om Shanti Om. And the 2007 film changed her life forever. It was one of the best-performing movies of the year, which earned a lot of accolades for Padukone.

But do you know Deepika had to face a lot of criticism and rejections too? In one of the interviews, Farah Khan revealed that during the first screen testing, they were a little annoyed by the voice of Deepika, and they were planning to reject her but she had all the qualities which Farah needs for Shantipriya.

Farah was impressed with her all rounder quality except her voice. The director unveiled that Deepika did not pretend to have a classy look. Further, as she was a newcomer she had to teach Deepika a lot, like how to pose, turn right, turn left, turn around and every small activity. 

But the makers played with the voice and they dubbed her voice. They acquired someone who had a rough voice so that it doesn’t look fake.

Deepika who is known for her amazing and extraordinary role made her name in cinema with the movie ‘Om Shanti Om’. The casting for the role that Deepika plays in the movie went on for almost a year, recalls Farah. And then the filmmaker also had the curious media playing the guessing game for a long time.
