Dharmendra Changes His Name After 64 Years Of His Acting Debut

Dharmendra started acting with ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’ in 1960. However, with the release of ‘Teri Baton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’, it has been revealed that our dear Dharam ji has made a major change in his name. 

‘Teri Baton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ has been released in theaters on 9 February. Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon are in lead roles in the film. Veteran actor Dharmendra is playing the role of Shahid’s grandfather in the film and he is called Dada.

The opening credits of the film revealed that Dharmendra has decided to incorporate the middle and surname given at his birth into his name. In the opening credits, his name has been written as Dharmendra Singh Deol.

This has happened 64 years after his entry into the industry. According to the report of ‘Hindustan Times’, Dharmendra’s birth name was Dharam Singh Deol.

Dharmendra was born on 8 December 1935 in Punjab to Kewal Kishan Singh Deol and Satwant Kaur. A report in ‘Indian Express’ revealed that Dharmendra’s father was a headmaster while his mother was a housewife.

The actor grew up in Sahnewal village of Punjab before moving to Mumbai to enter the world of acting. When he entered the film industry, Dharmendra dropped his middle name and surname.However, when his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol thought of entering the industry, they retained the family surname. Even his daughter Esha Deol carry forwards his name.
