The veteran actor passed away at his Mumbai residence at the age of 89, and the festival immediately shaped its final event around honoring dharmendra.

IFFI Observes Silence, Plans Special Tribute

Sholay 4K Screening Cancelled, But Tribute Continues

IFFI had planned a 4K restored screening of Sholay on November 26, one of the most iconic films featuring dharmendra. However, the organisers cancelled it due to technical issues. Despite the cancellation, the festival is hosting a special session titled “50 Years of Sholay: Why ‘Sholay’ Still Resonates?” with director Ramesh Sippy on November 27. This session continues to celebrate dharmendra and the legacy of the cult classic.

Sholay’s Iconic Bike Turns Into Emotional Memorial

A major attraction at this year’s festival is the original motorcycle ridden by dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan in the iconic song Yeh Dosti. The bike has been displayed in a glass enclosure at INOX Theatre in Panjim. Originally set up as a celebration of Sholay’s 50 years, the display has now become an emotional tribute to dharmendra, as visitors pause to remember his unforgettable charm and screen presence.

Visitors at the festival have been gathering around the display, sharing memories, and celebrating the everlasting legacy of dharmendra, whose work shaped generations of Bollywood fans.
