Dil-Luminati Hyderabad Concert Of Diljit Dosanjh Faces Legal Notice Over Songs Promoting Alcohol and Drug

Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh is currently on his Dil-Luminati tour across India. However, his upcoming concert in Hyderabad on November 15 has run into a significant problem due to a recent notice served to him regarding the choice of songs for the event.

The Telangana District Welfare Office (DSW) has issued a notice restricting Diljit from performing certain songs, including “Patiala Peg,” “Case,” and “Panj Tara,” at the Hyderabad concert.

In his complaint, Dharenavar, an assistant professor at a college in Chandigarh, pointed out that certain song lyrics promote themes of alcohol and drug use. The song “5 Taara,” for instance, includes lines like “5 taara theke utte behke taareya/Main tera saara gussa,” which describes venting anger by drinking at a high-end liquor shop. In another song, “Case,” the lyrics “Jeb vichon (a)feem labbhi hai, feem labbhi hai.. mittran tey case chalda, case chalda” refer to opium being found in a pocket and the resulting police case. Similarly, the song “Patiala Peg” includes the line “Ehda ni sukhaala chaddi da.. Patiala peg laa chaddi da,” expressing sorrow through drinking a Patiala peg.

According to reports, the notice follows a complaint filed by Panditrao Dharenavar, who raised concerns over potential harm to children at the event due to noise levels that can exceed 122 decibels, which is known to be harmful to young attendees.

Dharenavar, an Assistant Professor at PPGC-46, also cited prior directives from the Punjab and Haryana High Court prohibiting songs that promote themes like alcohol, drugs, or gun culture at live performances. He warned that if Diljit does not adhere to these restrictions, he would consider further legal action by approaching the court.
