Bollywood is all set to make a Biopic on 110 year old British-Punjabi former-Marathon runner, Fauja Singh. Filmmaker Raj Shaandilyaa, Omung Kumar and Kunal Shivdasani are going to lead the making of the film. Omung Kumar is going to direct the film while the other two will be producing the upcoming Biopic.
The good news for the Punjabi audience is that our own superstar, Diljit Dosanjh might be seen playing the role of young Fauja Singh! The star cast of the movie has already been decided and locked by the filmmakers but they have zipped their mouths on it. However, sources speculate that Diljit Dosanjh is set to play Young Fauja Singh in the movie. It is also being reported that, by the permission of Fauja Singh, the script of the movie, written by Vipul is ready.

Fauja Singh is a 110-year old former British Marathon runner of Punjabi descent. He was born in the Beas Pind of Punjab but now resides in the United Kingdom. Fauja Singh holds various world records in multiple age brackets but none of his records have been ratified as records. At the age of 89, Fauja Singh ran his first ever Marathon and went on to win it. He achieved his personal best at the London Marathon (2003) when he completed the race in 6 hours and 2 minutes. At the age of 92, he completed the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in 5 hours and 40 minutes.
Previously, his biography called ‘Turbaned Tornado’ has also been published. The book was written by Chandigarh-based columnist and writer Khushwant Singh. Fauja Singh has various prestigious awards to his name and his marathon career has been one of the most decorated ones. It will be interesting to see how Bollywood brings his unimaginable achievement on the screen.
The sad news is that the shooting for the film would have even started in June, 2021, had it not been for COVID-19. The makers have decided to showcase Fauja Singh’s journey from Punjab to London and thus, have decided a 40-day shooting schedule in London and 25-day schedule in Punjab. The London schedule will be shot first.
It is yet unknown when the movie will be ready and we will finally have an official announcement regarding it. The speculations surrounding Diljit are also getting heated and we hope the filmmakers reveal the star cast of the film soon!
